Privacy and legal notice

This website is a static site. It stores nothing about you in your browser and runs no code that reports back to me or to anyone else.

Responsible for this website

This is a personal academic website. It is not an official website of Aarhus University, and the views expressed here are my own.

What this website does not do

• It sets no cookies and uses no local storage.
• It runs no analytics, no tracking pixels, and no advertising.
• It loads no fonts, scripts, images, or other files from third-party servers. Everything the page needs is served from this domain.
• It embeds no third-party content such as videos, maps, or booking calendars.
• It has no contact form, no comment function, and no login.
• There is therefore no consent banner, because there is nothing to consent to.

Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted on GitHub Pages, a service of GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA, a subsidiary of Microsoft Corporation. When you open a page, your browser sends a request to GitHub’s servers. GitHub processes the data technically required to deliver the page, which includes your IP address, the time of the request, the page requested, and the browser and operating system your request reports. GitHub states that it uses such server logs for security purposes and retains them for a limited period.

I do not receive these logs, and I have no access to them. I therefore cannot identify visitors to this site. The legal basis for this processing is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR: the legitimate interest in operating a technically functional and secure website. Because GitHub is based in the United States, delivering this site involves a transfer of that connection data to a third country. GitHub’s own privacy statement describes how it handles that data.

Files you download

The CV and the article PDFs offered here are served from this domain, so downloading them involves the same GitHub server request described above and nothing further.

Links to other websites

This site links to journals, universities, media outlets, and repositories. Those links are only followed when you click them. Once you do, you leave this site and the privacy policy of the site you arrive at applies. I have no influence over what those sites collect.

Email

If you write to me, your message and your address are processed in the email systems of Aarhus University, and are handled under the university’s data protection rules. I keep correspondence for as long as it is needed for the matter it concerns.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to request access to personal data concerning you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in Denmark Datatilsynet. Since this site collects nothing itself, a request about it will in practice concern email correspondence, which you can address to me at the email address above.
